The goal of EtB is to remediate underlying learning weaknesses so a student can reach his/her learning potential. We strive to provide support so that each student becomes a successful, independent learner. Our Learning Specialists provide hands-on, multi-sensory lessons that are designed with a student’s individual strengths, weaknesses, and interests in mind.
EtB is proud to welcome students from our partnering schools. Our High School student, teacher-in-training, Madeline Schmitt, is offering monthly book clubs and homework help for our partner school’s students.
EtB can provide strategic to help alleviate the stress of homework by developing and teaching study skills, preparing for upcoming tests, reinforcing skills, and teaching organizational/time management skills. We welcome students in grades 4 – College to work with our experienced Learning Specialists.
EtB offers one-on-one academic tutoring in Advanced Math (Algebra 1 – Calculus) and Advanced Science (Chemistry, Biology, and Physics). Our Learning Specialists are experts at working with high school students that are in need of extra assistance in these advanced courses.
Let’s have some brain fun! We will work on critical thinking skills to help strengthen vocabulary, inference skills, and ability to make connections between different areas. We will also work on puzzles, number games, and other mathematical type activities.
Homeschool parents may utilize this service to help them choose curriculum, plan their academic year, or receive assistance in teaching their child. We also are available to conduct portfolio evaluations and academic achievement testing to demonstrate yearly progress that is required by the state of Florida.
To help students review and gain in-depth understanding of their current subject matter, we offer one-on-one sessions designed specifically to assist in homework. Our Learning Specialist are capable of reteaching, explain in a different way, or reinforce by giving positive and constructive feedback to help guide a student to learning success.
In order to truly understand a child’s current learning needs, we offer the Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement – 3 (KTEA-3). This academic assessment allows parents, teachers, and other providers understanding of a student’s current academic strengths and weaknesses. The academic areas measured are math, reading, and written expression. We use this assessment as baseline data, and also to measure growth and progress. Testing takes approximately 1.5 hours. Besides receiving your child’s scores and a detailed report, you will also meet with our Educational Solutionist to discuss results and recommendations.
EtB offers students one-on-one sessions to help improve reading, writing (expression and handwriting), and math skills. Students will improve their reading decoding/fluency, comprehension, written expression and math skills with direct instruction, multi-sensory and research-based programs, such as Linamood-Bell Processes (LiPS, Seeing Stars, Visualizing/Verbalizing, and On Cloud 9) and Orton-Gillingham. We believe in a strong connection between the hand and learning, so we do offer handwriting intervention and practice utilizing Handwriting Without Tears. Our Learning Specialists are trained and experienced in working with students with and without documented learning differences. We welcome all types of learning styles and learning preferences. We take pride in teaching students to become in charge of their own learning and demonstrating self-advocacy skills.
